Whilst I’ve taken some steps to ensure that food costs do not get out of hand on the program, it’s also important to consider that, although it does cost a little more to eat better quality food, there is scarcely a better use of money than investing in our health.
- Always try to avoid shopping on an empty stomach: Shopping whilst hungry will lead you to make more impulse purchases, and these will not always be healthy!
- Make a list: An obvious one, but making a list of what you need to buy will prevent you from making unhealthy, impulse purchases. I will provide a shopping list with your Meal Plan, so this should make things easier.
- Your first week will be more expensive, don't be put off: In the first week, you will be stocking your cupboards with ingredients that will last for weeks, such as oils, herbs, spices and dry goods.
- Check Out Wholesalers: Dry goods such as oats and nuts can often be cheaper when purchased in bulk. Not only will buying in bulk save you money, but having those ingredients on hand will help you keep up your healthy eating habits.
- Consider Butchers for Higher Quality Meat: Although it can be more expensive, meat from your local butcher will often be a healthier choice. By avoiding pre-packaged meat, you can pick cuts with less fat, and organic meat is often leaner and contains more nutrients than non-organic.
There are always adjustments we can make so if you are on a constrained budget let me know via the app and we can discuss how best to proceed.
